How we have grown
Our growth has been supported by significant investment in plant and machinery. We currently have 30 presses with the capability to print up to 8 colours (printed labels) and 3 colours (printed tapes). In addition we are able to laminate, foil, emboss and screen print allowing us to provide a huge range of finishes and embellshments. Our monthly output on printed tapes exceeds 140,000 rolls and 10’s of millions of printed labels. Windmill’s range of print technology includes digital (partnering with HP Indigo), flexographic, inkjet and rotary letterpress, perhaps the widest offering in the UK.
In turn, this means that our lead-times are often amongst the most competitive in the market place (see customer testimonials' for their opinion!)
Our experienced in-house artwork department uses the latest Apple Mac computers and industry-standard Adobe Creative Suite software to ensure that your ideas are converted into the best possible format for printing. We have on site printing plate manufacturing which helps speed up the origination process and hence lead times for finished product.
Windmill invests in it’s people, we have a very experienced pool of technical expertise to ensure first class customer service. Whatever your label or tape application it’s likely that we will be able to provide you with the best solution in a timely and friendly manner. Based in Stockport we employ over 50 people and our factories are ideally situated close to the motorway network ensuring speedy delivery throughout the UK and Europe.
We are also very proud to announce we have successfully gained our certificate of registration for the BRC/IoP Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials. Following our audit in March 2020 we were notified we had achieved a Grade A pass. We are very thankful to all our staff for their hard work in achieving this standard and in particular the contribution from Ian Shaw who provided us with consultancy advice and support throughout the process.
Passing the standard means Windmill are able to pursue new markets and gives our customers confidence that we operate with robust hygiene, quality and production systems and that quality is at the heart of everything we do.
