Covid Update – 24.03.2020

With regard to the escalating outbreak of the Corona Virus and the PM’s announcement last night, we hereby inform our customers and partners that Windmill Tapes Ltd is acting in compliance with the current NHS requirements and local authority guidelines.

As an employer our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of our workforce. As of the date of this notification no employees of our company have tested positive for Corona Virus or have been asked to self isolate. Health surveillance provisions and advice on precautionary measures have been put in place at our premises. All meetings and subcontractor visits are prohibited until further notice. All staff travel has been banned until further notice. All delivery/collection drivers are asked to remain with their vehicles and are not permitted to enter Windmill premises. A number of office staff are working from home but both the tape and label factories remain fully operational.

As of the date of this letter there has been no disruption to the Windmill supply chain. Most of our raw material is imported from the EU and to date there have been no undue delays with delivery or increased lead times from our suppliers. We have a number of options in terms of raw material sources and do not foresee a situation where we are unable to source the materials we need. It is feasible, should the situation worsen, that lead times may increase a little but beyond that at this stage we feel we are well positioned to handle what disruption may occur.

We continue to monitor the situation and take note of government advice as broadcasted.

What we are doing to help with the fight against Covid 19!

These are worrying times for all of us but here at Windmill we are doing what we can to help. We’ve outlined below the some of things we are doing.

• We’re giving priority to orders for labels intended for the NHS, food retailers or essential consumer items like bin liner wraps. We’ve already produced several urgent hand sanitiser label orders and a number of urgent orders for bin liner labels to help the urgent re-stocking of supermarket shelves.
• We’ve been involved in producing urgent tapes orders to enable the retailers to mark out their shop floors to maintain social distancing whilst shopping.
• We’ve introduced shifts and overtime in the areas it’s needed to ensure a prompt response to urgent requests.

We’ll keep you abreast as things develop but will continue to do our utmost to help in the battle to beat the virus.
