Windmill are pleased to announce the arrival of our latest piece of machinery, the new Omega SRi slitter rewinder from AB Graphic International (Germany).

The SRi is the latest label finishing line from ABG and incorporates their servo driven rollers to ensure excellent tension control and high speed rewinding – up to 300m/min. The machine will meet the ever increasing demand for greater production efficiency and will allow us to die cut both plain and pre-printed material at high speed and in large volumes. We expect to double our current output from the Ashe slitter/rewinder currently employed in the flexographic area of the business.

The SRi is fitted with an auto re-register device which enables accurate die cutting of printed stock, a process normally done on press at comparatively low speeds of up to 100m/min. The easy, quick die change unit will also help speed up the production of die cut labels. The extra capacity provided by the new unit will help meet increasing customer demand and to grow the business in this important market. Another interesting feature of the machine is the Fleye Vision image control system, a camera scans the web for print faults and allows the machine to stop the material precisely at the inspection point so that the operator can remove anything suspect, splice the web & restart the rewinding process. This QC system is in addition to camera inspection on press and so improves the overall quality of our products in line with customer expectations.
